Training with an injury or health condition
If you've had surgery, are recovering from an injury, or you're managing a long-term health condition, you're in the right place.
Before you ever train in a group, we meet with you one-to-one to build a programme around your specific situation. Over half of our members come to us with a health condition or injury – and we're here to make the gym a positive, personal experience for every body.
Who this works for
We regularly work with people managing or recovering from conditions that include:
Hip and knee replacements
Chronic back pain
Arthritis
Heart conditions and pacemakers
Post-cancer recovery
Patella tendinopathy and ACL injuries
Rotator cuff injuries
Neurological conditions
Ongoing sports injuries – shoulders, knees, hips
What happens when you join
Your welcome session
Your personalised programme
Fin will build your strength programming to suit your body, with every adaptation documented and shared with the full coaching team before your first session.
This hour-long session is time for our head coach to understand your history and capability, any physio or doctor recommendations, and guide you through key movements.
Support all included
Ongoing check-ins
All of this is standard with your membership. There are no extra charges or premium tiers – we offer all members the same level of service.
We'll schedule regular check-ins to see how things are progressing – adjusting your programme as needed, and making sure nothing gets missed.
“Fin made a very thorough assessment of my restrictions before I started and worked out a number of ways to accommodate them. 10 weeks in and I feel significantly stronger. Their knowledge of physiology and how that relates to my past injuries is excellent.”
Robin, solo member
Our head coach
Fin has a BSc in Sports Science and Coaching – a Level 6 qualification, the highest level achievable in personal training – and is trained in physiology, strength programming for injury prevention, and the psychology of coaching. He competed with British Athletics, and is experienced in working alongside physios to rehab and strengthen members at all levels.
“Solo is the first gym I've felt confident referring patients to. Fin understands how to work around an injury properly – he communicates well, and his members come back stronger. It makes my job easier.”

Got a question?
-
No – you don't need a referral to get in touch or join. If you have notes or a report from a physio or doctor, share them with us ahead of your welcome session and Fin will factor them in. For certain conditions – heart conditions, serious spinal injuries, or if you've been told not to exercise – we'll ask you to get a doctor's go-ahead before you start training.
-
The list isn't exhaustive – it's just a sample of what we regularly work with. If you're unsure whether we can help, get in touch and we'll be honest with you.
-
Yes, and that's intentional. Our sessions run in small groups of no more than six, but everyone follows their own personalised adaptations. The person next to you might be doing something different – that's normal here.
-
Tell us. We'd rather know straight away than have you push through something that isn't working. We'll adjust your programme and if something needs a clinical eye, we'll say so and point you in the right direction.
-
Yes – the same level of care is included as standard. There are no joining fees, no extra charges for the welcome session, and no premium tiers.
-
Not at all. Fin's welcome session is designed to meet you exactly where you are, whatever your starting point.
-
If you have a patient finishing treatment who needs supervised exercise, we can be the next step.
Before they train with anyone here, Fin meets them individually, reads any notes you want to share, and builds their programme around your parameters. Every adaptation is written up and visible to the full coaching team. We'll communicate back to you if something isn't improving or a new concern comes up – and we'll refer back promptly if it does.
