Training with an injury or health condition
You want to get stronger – and you can, even with an injury or health condition in the mix. We build every programme around your specific situation, adapting your training to work around what needs protecting while building real, lasting strength.
Over half of our members come to us with injuries or needing adaptations – it's just part of how we work. We're here to make the gym a positive, personal experience for every body.
Who this works for
We help you get stronger and adapt around conditions such as:
Joint pain and arthritis
Hip and knee replacements
Back, neck and nerve pain
Muscle and tendon injuries
Osteoporosis and osteopenia
Heart conditions and pacemakers
Post-cancer recovery
And many more
What happens when you join
Your welcome session
Your personalised programme
Ongoing check-ins
Support all included
Every session is adaptive. Fin documents your variations and shares them with the full coaching team before you start – so whoever's coaching knows exactly what you're doing and why.
This hour-long session is time for our head coach to understand your history and capability, any physio or doctor recommendations, and guide you through key movements.
All of this is standard with your membership. There are no extra charges or premium tiers – we offer all members the same level of service.
We schedule regular check-ins to track how things are progressing – adjusting your programme as you get stronger and as things change.
“Fin made a very thorough assessment of my restrictions before I started and worked out a number of ways to accommodate them. 10 weeks in and I feel significantly stronger. Their knowledge of physiology and how that relates to my past injuries is excellent.”
Robin, solo member
Our head coach
Fin has a BSc in Sports Science and Coaching – a Level 6 qualification, the highest level achievable in personal training – and is trained in physiology and strength programming for injury prevention. He competed with British Athletics, and is experienced in working alongside physios to rehab and strengthen members at all levels.
“I send Fin and Gemma my session notes and exercises after every appointment. It means they know exactly what we've spoken about, why the injury happened, and what needs protecting in training. That joined-up approach is rare – and it genuinely changes the results patients get.”

Got a question?
-
No – you don't need a referral to get in touch or join. If you have notes or a report from a physio or doctor, share them with us ahead of your welcome session and Fin will factor them in. For certain conditions – heart conditions, serious spinal injuries, or if you've been told not to exercise – we'll ask you to get a doctor's go-ahead before you start training.
-
The list isn't exhaustive – it's just a sample of what we regularly work with. If you're unsure whether we can help, get in touch and we'll be honest with you.
-
Yes, and that's intentional. Our sessions run in small groups of no more than six, but everyone follows their own personalised adaptations of the programme. The person next to you might be doing something different – that's normal here – but you’ll still be able to complete the full session.
-
Tell us. We'd rather know straight away than have you push through something that isn't working. We'll adjust your programme and if something needs a clinical eye, we'll say so and point you in the right direction.
-
Yes – the same level of care is included as standard. There are no joining fees, no extra charges for the welcome session, and no premium tiers.
-
Not at all. Fin's welcome session is designed to meet you exactly where you are, whatever your starting point. The goal from day one is to start building strength in a way that works for your body.
-
If you have a patient finishing treatment who needs supervised exercise, we can be the next step.
Before they train with anyone here, Fin meets them individually, reads any notes you want to share, and builds their programme around your parameters. Every adaptation is written up and visible to the full coaching team. We'll communicate back to you if something isn't improving or a new concern comes up – and we'll refer back promptly if it does.
